Pastoral Care
At Northfield Manor Academy, we are deeply committed to fostering the well-being and holistic development of every child. Our dedicated pastoral care team plays a pivotal role in providing a nurturing and supportive environment where each student can thrive emotionally, socially, and academically.
Individualised Support
Recognising the unique needs of each child, our pastoral care team is committed to delivering personalised support and interventions. We understand that the journey through primary school may present various challenges, and our team is adept at providing tailored assistance to address specific needs. Whether it’s through one-on-one sessions, group activities, or targeted interventions, we strive to create an inclusive atmosphere that promotes the well-being of every student.
Specialised Therapeutic Approaches
To ensure a comprehensive approach to pastoral care, we offer specialised therapeutic interventions such as Lego Therapy, Drawing and Talking Therapy, and other evidence-based practices. These approaches provide children with alternative means of expression, allowing them to communicate, explore emotions, and build essential coping skills in a supportive and non-intrusive manner.
Creating a Safe Space
Our primary goal is to create a safe and nurturing environment where students feel valued, understood, and supported. The pastoral care team works collaboratively with teachers, parents, and external professionals to establish a comprehensive network of support for each child. By fostering positive relationships, we create a space where students can thrive both academically and emotionally. Each set of classrooms has a regulation station where children are able to go to help them to manage their emotions and well-being. These spaces have sensory resources, such as weighted blankets, mindfulness activities and sensory tools to support children’s regulation.
Proactive Well-Being Initiatives
In addition to individualised support, our teachers also implement proactive well-being approaches throughout the school day. These may include mindfulness activities, brain breaks and peer support programs. By instilling these skills from an early age, we aim to empower our students to navigate the challenges of growing up with confidence and resilience.
Open Communication
We believe in the importance of open communication between home and school. Our pastoral care team actively engages with parents and carers to ensure a collaborative approach to supporting each child. Regular updates, parent workshops, and consultation sessions are integral parts of our commitment to maintaining strong partnerships with families. See the poster below for this year’s parent sessions. These sessions have designed based on feedback from parent surveys.
