Enrichment

We define Enrichment as an opportunity that provides children with a diverse range of approaches that seek to enhance children’s school experience by extending learning beyond traditional academic priorities, including careers education, and participation in the arts and sports.

We aim to deliver a high-quality enrichment education which helps pupils to gain essential knowledge that they need to be educated citizens. We aim to nurture and identify talent whilst inspiring a well-rounded, respectful and confident child who will develop skills for life-long learning.

Sports

Sports Engaging in sports not only fosters physical well-being but also plays a crucial role in enhancing pupil learning by promoting teamwork, discipline, and resilience, contributing to a holistic educational experience at our school. We are not only committed to providing high quality physical education but also sporting opportunities beyond the classroom.

Clubs – we provide a wide range of sporting clubs including, archery, badminton, football and tag rugby. (See our Clubs Yearly Overview document )

Sports Champions – we have sports champions visit the school to inspire our pupils. These are sporting professionals such as Olympians and Paralympians, footballers and other athletes at the top of their game.

Competitions – we participate in many competitions each year including football tournaments, netball matches, athletics events and even bowling competitions!

Enrichment – alongside our curriculum learning, we also have coaches come into school to teach children how to scoot, skate and ride their bikes. We also take children swimming in Year 2, 4 & 6 to build their ability and confidence.

Performing Arts

Performing Arts Participation in performing arts is invaluable for pupil learning, as it nurtures creativity, self-expression, and confidence, fostering a well-rounded education that goes beyond academics at our school.

Clubs – we provide a wide range of clubs in the performance arts including, stage by stage (our drama and singing group), street dance and … (See our Clubs Yearly Overview document below)

Provision – alongside our curriculum offer, we also have specialist music teachers to ensure that all children learn an instrument. We also have a dedicated art teacher to provide creative (and messy) art lessons!

Experiences – our pupils have the opportunity to perform at an events arena through the Young Voices concert, perform poetry at the Birmingham Hippodrome and watch a theatre performance and pantomime.

Interests

Interests Recognising and nurturing pupils’ interests is vital, as it creates a dynamic and engaging learning environment that fosters curiosity, intrinsic motivation, and a deeper connection to the educational experience.

Clubs – we provide a wide range of clubs based on pupils interests including cool science, debate mate, yoga and forest school. (See our Clubs Yearly Overview document below)

Experiences – we organise additional experiences linked to pupils interests such as debate mate competitions (we even attended the finals of the Houses of Common in London and placed 2nd nationally), Science workshops at the University of Birmingham and author visits!

Careers Week – we have an annual careers week which involves visitors from different professions, teaching the children about their job and getting children to reflect on what their interests might lead towards.

Trips and Experiences

Trips and Experiences Trips and experiences are integral to pupil learning as they provide hands-on opportunities, fostering real-world connections to classroom knowledge, enhancing social skills, and creating lasting memories that contribute to a well-rounded education.

Thematic curriculum – each year has multiple trips or visitors which complement pupils learning. These range from a trip to the seaside and feeding animals at the farm, to recreating battles in Ancient Greece.

Religious learning – pupils have the opportunity to visit different religious places and hear from visitors for different celebrations helping them to understand and accept people’s different beliefs.

NMA Promise – Our NMA promise is our commitment to providing children with special experiences as they journey through school to build their aspirations. This includes, caring for newly hatched chicks, watching caterpillars change to butterflies and visiting a university. (see NMPA Promise document below).

Pupil Leadership at Northfield Manor

At Northfield Manor Academy, we believe that every child has the potential to lead. In Upper Key Stage 2, all pupils are encouraged to take on a leadership role that reflects their interests and strengths — whether as School Council representatives, Eco Warriors, Digital Leaders, Play Leaders, or in other meaningful roles, most of which involve supporting other pupils. This inclusive approach to leadership helps children develop a strong sense of responsibility, communication skills, and pride in their contributions to school life. By being trusted with real responsibilities, pupils grow in confidence, learn to work collaboratively, and feel empowered to make a positive difference within their school community.
